You can access the web directly at the device with the optional Web Access Software, making it possible to view and print pages (including PDF files) directly from websites - without the need for a PC. Users can even access the company intranet which means corporate documents such as forms, contracts and manuals can be printed instantly.

The system is designed to fit seamlessly into any network environment. Supporting industry-standard PCL and PostScript printing, the device is also equipped with Canon’s unique UFRII technology which can enhance printing speeds for Windows applications.

Set up and configuration is easy for IT administrators using Canon’s advanced network management tools. This provides assured monitoring and control for one or more devices on your network. Configuration changes can be handled centrally and co-ordinated across remote devices throughout your organisation for maximum efficiency. Outstanding reliability comes, as you would expect, as standard but can be further enhanced by Canon’s innovative eMaintenance facility. This gives the machine direct electronic access to Canon’s service centre, enabling the device to report back relevant statistics and even co-ordinate the provision of a service technician if required. Additionally, toner replenishment can be automated based on actual usage so that productivity is maximised and IT resources remain focussed in the right areas.

Security where it’s needed
Network-enabled user authentication tools, such as Simple Device Login (SDL) and Single Sign-on (SSO), permit existing network IDs and passwords to be used so employees can maintain a single identity for all network security functions – ideal in larger, corporate environments. Once device access is granted, a number of advanced security and encryption features go to work to prevent data from being compromised or intercepted by outsiders. For even greater protection, the optional iR Security Kit initiates the encryption or overwriting of hard disks to completely erase stored data.

Visually impaired users can receive audible job confirmation through the optional Voice Operation Kit. And the optional ADF handle allows users in wheelchairs to close the document feeder.

And with speeds of up to 65 ppm accompanied by an on-line paper capacity of up to 7,700 sheets, anything’s possible in next to no time with the Canon ir6870ci Colour Photocopier. With Canon’s iW Publishing Manager software, you can drastically speed up the production of professional documents. With iWPM users can create bespoke documents by combining, personalising, and manipulating files from a variety of sources such as Word, PPT or Excel. Documents are merged into a single environment in order to move pages around, delete pages, annotate text, and set up the finishing features intelligently after verifying the output.

Send directly to email
Canon’s Universal Send feature enables documents to be scanned at up to 70 ipm in B&W or colour. This key function allows the user to scan and send documents to different sources such as PC, email or fax, simultaneously. This feature is available as standard on the Canon ir6870ci Colour Photocopier. Furthermore, users can minimise the risk of unauthorised distribution by encrypting PDF files with a password so that only intended recipients can open, print, or edit the document. And, with searchable PDF (OCR) Mode users can scan using keywords and create searchable files to locate information quickly.
